What happens during the first visit?

A first visit generally involves an initial assessment.

Our comprehensive assessment will include preparatory online paperwork that is integrated with a face-to-face assessment.

For young children this involves mainly observations of time spent in play and for older children this can include both time spent in movement-based play and standardised assessments.

The therapist will evaluate a range of developmental areas for each child including but not limited to motor skills including, posture, muscle strength and tone, gross motor, fine motor, and visual motor and/or visual perceptual skills and sensory-related to the reason for referral for the evaluation.

We may also focus on psycho-social aspects with the assessment including emotional responses, self-regulation, motivation, social skills etc. Following this time spent in face-to-face assessments, the therapist will provide a comprehensive report which outlines a number of factors including a treatment plan and various goals/ recommendations and at times a schedule of general support.

Following the initial assessment, we aim to schedule appointments if available, necessary and warranted.

Depending on the therapy program available some commence week to week series where attendance is 60 mins weekly.

Other families find access to our intensive programming very beneficial and attend 8-10 hours across a full week. (2 hours daily).

Your therapist will be in contact to work out access to ongoing therapy sessions and book you into available programs.
